He wants to leave Barça already, but they need him, Raphinha intervenes: 'you're not going to leave'

Barça's captain, along with the rest of the locker room, pushes for an important deal to be closed

Barcelona's first team is going through a key moment in planning the immediate future of the squad. With a summer market that promises to be very busy, stability within the locker room has become an essential asset. The group, despite the difficulties, has shown maturity and unity, qualities that have been reinforced under the leadership of the veterans and the energy of the young players.

In that context, the players have understood that keeping certain pillars within the team, even if they are not undisputed starters, can make a difference. The locker room not only thinks about signings and departures but also acts as a united family when they feel that a teammate deserves to stay. That is exactly what is happening with a player whose continuity is still not assured.

internal pressure, they want him to stay

The Barça squad has raised their voice to ask Wojciech Szczesny to stay one more season at Barça. The Polish goalkeeper, who arrived to cover Ter Stegen's absence, has fit perfectly both on the field and in the blaugrana locker room. His presence has been so positive that important players like Raphinha, Gavi, Robert Lewandowski, and Lamine Yamal have directly expressed their desire to keep counting on him.

Everyone agrees that his professional attitude, experience, and closeness have added a lot to the group's day-to-day life.  Szczesny hasn't demanded prominence, but when he has been draftedon, he has replied. And that, along with his role as support for the younger players, has caused a respect that now translates into collective backing.

a profile that fits the club

Since his arrival, the Pole has shown he knows how to adapt to his role: without demands, he has accepted his secondary role without losing competitiveness or commitment. Therefore, from the sports management, they do not close the door to his renewal. Even though his contract is close to ending, and his role would again be secondary, his profile is valued as that of a second goalkeeper.

However, the last word belongs to Szczesny. At 34 years old, he knows that time in elite soccer is limited. And he is considering with his family whether he wants to remain in a secondary role or seek a new challenge with more prominence.
