Official, Ter Stegen already has a new team: betrayal, he's leaving for Barça's biggest rival

Barça already knows it has a major offer from City to take the German goalkeeper to the Premier League with Guardiola

Manchester City could become the unexpected financial lifeline for FC Barcelona. Pep Guardiola has given the green light to a deal that's considered a true market opportunity. The Catalan coach, who pays close attention to the needs of the blaugrana club, would be willing to make a strong bid for Marc-André ter Stegen.

The German goalkeeper fits into the Citizens' plans, and his arrival would open an escape route for Joan Laporta.  In the offices at Camp Nou, they view an exit favorably, as it would not only free up one of the highest salaries on the squad but also leave a significant amount in the coffers. Ter Stegen is one of the most highly valued players on the roster, and his transfer could exceed €40 million.

This figure would allow Barça to ease the pressure of financial fair play and make way for new registrations. The Catalan club's priority is to solve Joan García's situation as soon as possible. The goalkeeper from Sallent has become Barça's first official signing. The goalkeeper, who trained at Damm and Espanyol, signed a few days ago until 2031, which puts the German goalkeeper's future in doubt.

Market opportunity

Guardiola's camp confirm that Ter Stegen is liked and that City value his experience and leadership. Although Ederson remains the starter, the Brazilian has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, and a sale this summer can't be ruled out. Faced with that possibility, the Santpedor coach has already requested a list of replacements, and Barça's goalkeeper is among the top candidates.

The deal, in addition to making sense from a sporting perspective, would have a sentimental dimension. Guardiola keeps an excellent relationship with Laporta and wouldn't mind helping the club that gave him his first big opportunity as a coach. Manchester City has enough financial muscle to carry out the deal without difficulties, and it would be immediate relief for the blaugrana coffers.

An exit for Marc

Meanwhile, at Barça, they aren't closing the door. Although Ter Stegen has been untouchable for years, his performance has been inconsistent in the last season, and the need is pressing. If a convincing offer arrives, the board wouldn't hesitate too much.  The priority remains to strengthen other positions and complete registrations before the start of LaLiga.

Selling Ter Stegen is necessary for the culés to have room in the market and to avoid having three top-level goalkeepers. With the arrival of Joan García, plus the renewal of Wojchiech Szczesny, the goal is well covered. Barça doesn't have problems in goal, but it must make a move to have more financial fair play.

Joan Laporta doesn't hide it: he's looking for partners in the market, and if one of them is Manchester City, the doors are open. Ter Stegen could be living his last stage as a blaugrana, and his departure, although painful, would be seen as a necessary favor. A favor that bears Pep Guardiola's stamp.
