Official, Flick Forgets About Nico Williams, Already Has a New Team: He Wants Someone Better

The German coach considers it necessary to strengthen another position this upcoming summer market

With Hansi Flick, the sports planning for the next season begins to take shape. The German coach has shown full harmony with the club's sports management regarding priorities for the next transfer market. Flick believes that Barça needs to strengthen the left wing and the right-back position.

On the left wing, the club has Nico Williams in its sights. The Athletic winger is the main candidate to provide a quality boost to a position where Barça seeks more imbalance, speed, and depth. Meanwhile, regarding the right-back, the idea is to incorporate a player who can directly compete with Jules Koundé.

Hansi Flick Points Out One More Priority

However, beyond these two priorities, Flick believes that the squad needs at least one more reinforcement. According to what he reportedly said, the team needs more depth in another important position.

Alejandro Balde Needs Stronger Competition

The position is the left-back. According to 'El Nacional', Hansi Flick believes that Barça needs real competition for Alejandro Balde. Although the coach trusts Gerard Martín, he sees it as essential to incorporate a more proven profile that can fight for the position.

The goal is not to replace Balde but to complement him with strong and reliable competition. Having depth in the full-back positions, both right and left, is essential.

The Two Options

In this regard, Barça would have two big names. According to the information published by 'El Nacional', Álvaro Carreras is one of the strongest alternatives for the left-back. Currently at Benfica, he could be around 40 million, a high figure but one that the club values for his youth and future potential.

The other option on the table is Andrei Ratiu, a Rayo Vallecano full-back. The Romanian international is, in fact, Barça's favorite to strengthen the right-back, but his great advantage is his versatility: he can also play as a left-back. His signing would be much more affordable than Álvaro Carreras's, which also plays greatly in his favor given the current complicated economic context of the blaugrana club.
