Barça loses against Villarreal and Flick makes it clear: 'This is your fault...'

Ronald Araújo could leave the Catalan club this summer amid very significant offers from the market

FC Barcelona's sports management continues with its economic and sports adjustment plan for the next season. With Hansi Flick in charge and Deco leading decisions from the offices, the club has started to define who are truly indispensable in the first team squad. In this thorough review, names that until recently seemed immovable have lost their untouchable status.

One of those cases is Ronald Araújo. The Uruguayan center-back, who has been one of the defensive references in recent seasons, no longer has his future guaranteed at Camp Nou. The blaugrana sports management considers that a good offer could open the exit door for him, especially if it helps alleviate the club's finances and facilitate new signings.

the market offers a lot of money

For weeks, two clubs from Saudi Arabia have shown a very serious interest in signing Araújo. The offers they are preparing would reach 60 million euros, exactly the figure Barça considers appropriate to let him go. It would be a valuable income, especially in a market where the Catalan club needs to sell to reinforce other key positions.

The problem is on the other side: Araújo has no intention of leaving the European elite for now. The defender wants to continue competing at the highest level, thinking not only about his growth as a footballer but also about keeping himself in the orbit of the Uruguayan national team. Although he values the club, he is not willing to take a step that distances him from the competitive spotlight.

Flick plans changes

Although the German coach appreciates the intensity and commitment of the Uruguayan, his game plan involves defenders with greater ability to build from the back. Therefore, in the culé offices, other profiles are already being considered to strengthen the defense. Names like Jonathan Tah have gained strength and align more with the idea of a center-back with good ball distribution and tactical awareness.

Araújo is aware of this context and, although his priority is to stay, he also knows his role could change. From being an undisputed regular, he now faces a more open scenario, where competition will increase and his continuity will depend not only on his performance but also on the transfer market. For now, his camp has conveyed calmness, but they do not rule out considering other options if offers from Europe arrive.
