Imminent, Atlético de Madrid will sign Fermín López: this will be its price and salary

The red-and-white club keeps its interest in Barça's young midfielder and Flick explodes

Fermín López faces a crucial summer for his future at Barcelona. After a season in which he alternated between outstanding performances and periods of less prominence, the homegrown player wants to establish himself as an important piece in the squad. It's no wonder: his commitment and performance have made him one of the most valued players by the fans and the sporting management.

However, Hansi Flick's presence on the bench and the signings the club is preparing could change his situation. The German coach aims to shape a competitive and balanced team, which means making tough decisions regarding roles and playing time. Simeone is paying close attention to Fermín López's situation at Barça, despite the recent signing of Alex Baena by Atlético de Madrid from Villarreal.

The market tightens

Atlético de Madrid are closely monitoring Fermín López and would be willing to move for his signing if the opportunity arises. Diego Simeone sees in the young midfielder an ideal profile to strengthen the midfield of the Madrid club and has already conveyed his interest to the sporting management. The player fits the Argentine coach's style and could have a more prominent role at the Metropolitano, something that would interest the player.

Barça, however, doesn't plan to part ways with Fermín easily. Joan Laporta considers him part of the club's future and would prioritize other sales before letting go of one of the most impactful talents to emerge from La Masia.

Summer of crucial decisions

Nico Williams's arrival complicates the outlook. The Athletic Club winger will arrive with the promise of being a starter, which will force Flick to readjust his system and could reduce Fermín's playing time. The player doesn't want to lose prominence and believes he has earned the right to be a relevant piece in the project.

Barça would be willing to let the player go for an offer close to €70 million. If Barça agreed, the player would be asking for a net salary of about €5M per season.

If he doesn't get guarantees of continuity, Fermín would consider listening to offers to avoid a year on the bench that could jeopardize his chances of going to the 2026 World Cup. Meanwhile, Simeone is patiently waiting for an opportunity to try to convince him.
