Last-minute signing at Barça, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed it: 'he's the best'

Both players are excited about the progress of a footballer who is returning this summer

In Barça's locker room, few players were as excited about the possible arrival of Nico Williams as Lamine Yamal. The young blaugrana talent dreamed of sharing a team with his close friend from the Spanish national team, with whom he has built a close relationship during national team training camps.

The connection between the two has been evident in matches with Spain, and the idea of extending it at Barça caused excitement for Lamine. However, with the deal ruled out, that desire will have to wait. Although both share an explosive playing style, full of dribbling, speed, and creativity, the club has decided not to move forward with the signing, at least for now.

Nico won't come to Barça

Nico Williams won't wear the FC Barcelona jersey. The club has decided to close the attempt to sign the forward, despite the interest shown by both the sporting management and the player himself. His profile fit the style Hansi Flick is looking for, but the deal hasn't come to fruition.

The negotiations, led by Deco, couldn't overcome the financial obstacles or the deadlines set by the market. With a €90 million ($90 million) release clause, Nico will remain at Athletic for now, while Barça explores other options to strengthen its attack.

Marc Bernal, the other great hope for Flick

However, according to El Nacional, there's another name that excites Hansi Flick, and it's not Nico. It's Marc Bernal, whom the German coach sees as a player for the future. Interestingly, Bernal is also very close to Lamine Yamal, since both are from the 2007 generation and have known each other since they were children.

Lamine and Bernal have shared a locker room, training sessions, and tournaments for years. Their understanding on the field and friendship off it have endured.

The most desired return

Marc Bernal suffered a long-term injury at the beginning of last season, which kept him off the field for many months. He's expected to be fully recovered for the start of the new season, and the club trusts he'll return to his best level.

The sporting management considers Bernal one of the cornerstones of Barça's future midfield. His tactical ability, vision, and personality make him a unique profile within La Masia. Alongside Lamine Yamal, he's part of a generation that promises to make history at the club, and that's now starting to make its mark.
