What You Didn't See from Leganés - Barça: A Victory That Could Be Worth a League

The Catalan team puts a lot of pressure on Madrid, who will play on Sunday at four while being 7 behind Barça

Barça Achieves a Meritorious Victory, one of those that seems to be worth double and that you need to win the title.  The worst part is Balde's possible muscle injury, which at this point in the season could mean he misses, for example, the Copa final. Borja Jiménez's team will remain immersed in the fight for survival, and the fans let them know by chanting  "Yes, We Can."

Little Movement

The start of the match reflected the playing style of both coaches, with Barça dominating the ball and Leganés playing a more direct style. The first clear chance was for the Madrid team, with a good back pass from Raba to Altimira that Szczesny saved. The response came from Kounde, with a self-pass included, but Dmitrovic reacted well after the Frenchman's shot deflected off a teammate.

The worst news for the Catalans was Balde's injury, who had to be substituted before halftime due to a muscle problem. There weren't many more actions, many interruptions in the game and a field that didn't help the ball roll quickly. In fact, the data show this, as there wasn't even half an hour of effective play.

A Goal That Could Be Worth a League

This second half was going to start in the best way for the Catalans, as they were going to take the lead on the scoreboard within a few minutes. Cross from Raphinha that Jorge Sáenz heads into his own goal, culminating one of the few actions where Barça could run into space. Fermín could have scored the second goal after a Messi-like play, but his shot went just wide of the post.

As the minutes passed, Leganés was getting closer to 'Tek's goal, especially with a very inspired Dani Raba today. In fact, the attacking midfielder scored a header, but he was in an offside position. The clearest chance could have been for Munir, but Íñigo appeared there to make a saving tackle just as he was about to shoot.

Barça's victory against a Leganés that made it very difficult and came close to a draw. These three points take them even further away from Madrid, now 7 points ahead, and put all the pressure on Ancelotti's team, who play against Alavés.  The next match for Flick's team will be the return leg of the Champions League next Tuesday, and the Madrid team will travel to the islands to face Mallorca.
