Eric, Araújo, Gerard Martín, and Christensen are the four main beneficiaries following Iñigo's departure, and the first matches of La Liga will show who settles as a starter. Although the position seems well covered with first-team players, the seasons are very long and injuries or other setbacks could open up a spot for a young player.
Barça Atlètic haven't started the first preseason matches on the right foot and have already suffered two defeats against Nàstic de Tarragona and FC Escala. Although Belletti's team still needs more playing time, one of the most solid lines so far is the defensive line.
Andrés Cuenca, the untouchable of Barça Atlètic
During preseason, Belletti is testing different profiles for the four positions in the defensive line. The only footballer who has started in all three matches played so far is Andrés Cuenca. The Andalusian footballer arrived from Sevilla FC in the 2019-20 season and since then has progressed through the ranks until reaching Barça Atlètic.
Last season, he was a key piece in Juvenil A and played 19 matches with the reserve team despite being only 17 years old (17 years old). After turning 18, he is set to be one of Barça B's leaders and one of the most viable options to move up to the first team. It should be remembered that Cuenca already made his Champions League debut last season under Flick against Young Boys.
Olmedo and Landry, the other two options
Alexis Olmedo and Landry Farré are the other two players who can play as center backs and have a lot of potential. Although they are two very different profiles, both were important for Barça Atlètic last season. Olmedo played 25 matches in Primera RFEF while Landry played 21.
Landry started this preseason with Barça's first team, but didn't convince Flick and was one of the "left out" players. Meanwhile, Alexis Olmedo already started preseason with the reserve team and will be a key piece for Belletti as he has shown in the first preseason matches.
