Confirmed, Barça Secures Arrival of the New Pedri: 'It's Done, He's the Best...'

Barça has on their agenda a gem that has caught the attention of the European elite due to its similarity to Pedri

FC Barcelona continues to bet on young talent as an essential pillar of its new sports project, and the arrival of Hansi Flick has reinforced that philosophy. Under the command of the German coach, players like Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsí, Alejandro Balde, and Fermín López have stepped up. The Catalan club wants to continue nurturing the first team with prospects capable of making a difference both now and in the future.

In that sense, one of the greatest examples of success in this policy is Pedri, who arrived as a complete unknown from Las Palmas and today is a key piece. Flick has made him the central axis of his midfield, and the Spanish midfielder is receiving more and more recognition for his extraordinary abilities and talent. Now, Barça dreams of finding another diamond in the rough who can follow in his footsteps, and there is a name on the agenda already considered Pedri's clone.

The Jewel That Dazzles

According to the latest information, the name that has gained weight in Barça's offices is Gilberto Mora. At 16 years old, he is already considered one of the greatest promises of Mexican soccer and is shining brightly at Club Tijuana. It's no wonder: he has earned a place on the team despite his young age and has caught the attention of Barça scouts due to his similarity to Pedri.

Deco has already received very positive reports about him, and several members of the technical secretariat have seriously recommended closing his signing as soon as possible. The operation also recalls the case of Pedri González himself, not only because of the player's profile but also because of its low cost: about six million euros. The club views favorably the possibility of getting ahead of the rest of the competitors and securing this gem from the American continent.

A Bet on the Future

Evidently, Barça won't have it easy: clubs like Benfica, Porto, Ajax, or Napoli have also shown interest in Mora, aware of his potential. His emergence has been so impactful that he has even been drafted to Mexico's under-20 national team, and it is not ruled out that he will soon debut with the senior team. The problem is that, being only 16 years old,  any European club that signs him will have to wait until he reaches the age of majority

The experience with Pedri made it clear that great prospects can explode earlier than expected, and that it is worth taking risks when the potential justifies it. In this case, Barça knows it could secure a strategic signing, at an affordable price, with a view to the future.  The club has the opportunity to secure a player whom many already compare to the best midfielders of his generation.
