The Frenchman doesn't want to leave the blaugrana club, but he is considering his future if a player arrives for the full-back position

Barcelona is once again looking at the Italian market; this time, the blaugrana sporting management has set its sights on a profile they like: the Dutchman Denzel Dumfries. The Dutch right-back from Inter Milan is back on Barça's radar, and this time with an important new development. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Netherlands international has a release clause of only €25 million.

This figure, in the current market context, is considered manageable, and Barcelona, which is still working to balance its Financial Fair Play, views it favorably. Denzel Dumfries is a profile that fits the needs of the coaching staff. He has speed, range, international experience, and an imposing physique to compete at the elite level.

This isn't the first time the Inter wing-back's name has been linked to the blaugrana side. In previous transfer windows, there had already been speculation about interest from the Catalan club. However, now the deal could actually be activated, as long as two clear conditions are met: Héctor Fort's departure  and the possible sale of Jules Koundé.

Fort doesn't count for Flick

Fort, who was one of last season's revelations, doesn't have his role guaranteed under Hansi Flick. Although the new coach values his potential, a loan isn't ruled out if a convincing offer arrives. In that scenario, Barça could opt for a more proven profile for the right-back position.

Dumfries, with experience in the Champions League and major international tournaments, would be the chosen one. The other major variable is Koundé's future; the French center-back, who has been used as a right-back on numerous occasions, could leave if a good offer comes in.  Although Flick counts on him, the club needs to generate income, and if any team puts more than €40 million on the table, a strategic sale isn't ruled out.

Paris Saint-Germain showed interest in signing Denzel Dumfries. The Parisian club valued his physical profile and offensive ability, seeing him as an ideal option to strengthen the right flank for next season. Although no formal offer was made, his name was present on PSG's sporting management agenda.

Dumfries chosen option

The Dutchman, meanwhile, would be delighted with a move to LaLiga. His situation at Inter has progressively lost prominence, and at the Giuseppe Meazza, they also wouldn't mind a sale this summer. The €25 million clause ($27 million) allows for a quick exit, without the need for lengthy negotiations.

Barça is clear that it needs to strengthen its right flank. With Cancelo back at Manchester City and no guarantees of continuity in that area, Dumfries emerges as a solid and economical solution. His offensive style and ability to create numerical superiority fit with the model Flick wants to implement.

Moreover, his arrival would bring direct competition to an area that has been patched up in recent seasons. Since Dani Alves, the right-back position has been one with many doubts. Dumfries could provide the stability and immediate performance that a club like Barça demands.
