Not Haaland, not Bernardo Silva: the City star who already wants to sign for Barça

Guardiola wants to let go of one of his stars, but FC Barcelona's board rules out the deal

In FC Barcelona's offices, they are in the midst of planning for next season, and one of the main focuses is on strengthening the left wing. The sporting management, together with the coaching staff led by Hansi Flick, are evaluating different options to add a highly unbalancing winger, capable of providing dribbling, goals, and, above all, consistency. In this scenario, the market offers interesting and experienced names, but not all of them fit the profile that the German coach is looking for.

Additionally, as in previous transfer windows, Pep Guardiola's presence once again has a certain indirect influence on the moves of the blaugrana club. The relationship between Manchester City's current coach and Barça has led to various operations in recent years, whether through loans, sales, or informal suggestions. However, not all recommendations coming from England reach a successful conclusion with the current sporting management at Barça.

Guardiola offers him to Barça

One of the names that has been put forward by the Catalan coach in recent days is Jack Grealish. The English footballer has lost prominence at Manchester City after a very lackluster season, in which his performance has been far from justifying his high transfer fee. Guardiola has already informed the club that he is not counting on him for next season, so his entourage has already started looking for a new destination for him.

Among the clubs he was offered to is FC Barcelona. However, the response was immediate and forceful: Hansi Flick doesn't consider his signing at all. For the German coach, Grealish doesn't fit the profile his new project needs.

Beyond his technical qualities, his low competitive performance in recent seasons and certain off-field incidents weigh against him. Flick is looking for players who are focused, in top form, and committed. These are conditions that, as of today, he doesn't see in the English international.

Barça targets other priorities

In the club's offices, they keep firm in their intention to bring in a reliable winger, but the focus is on alternatives like Luis Díaz or Nico Williams. The refusal to consider Grealish has not caused any internal debate: neither Flick nor the sporting management consider a deal that could pose an unnecessary sporting and financial risk to be viable, even at a reduced price.

Deco, head of the sporting area, constantly assesses the opportunities the market offers, but he has already communicated that this proposal will not be considered. The message from the coaching staff has been clear: they will only look for profiles that fit the playing style and arrive without external baggage. Thus, Grealish will have to look for another destination, since at Camp Nou they do not want him either as a strategic signing or as a market opportunity.
