García Pimienta requests a last-minute signing from Barça: Flick's OK, he goes to Sevilla

The former coach of Barça's youth categories pushes for a signing

The winter transfer market is about to close, specifically on February 3rd. With only five days left until the deadline, Barça still hasn't been able to make a move, although they are still working to secure the loan of Marcus Rashford.

The English forward is Barça's main target to strengthen their attack in the second half of the season, but the operation remains unfinalized because they first need departures. Barça hopes to solve the situation in the final days of the market, although uncertainty about their ability to move the squad remains.

Marcus Rashford, a necessary addition

Rashford's arrival would be a great reinforcement for the culé team, as he could bring speed, imbalance, and finishing ability to a front line with little rotation. With Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski as starters, Rashford would give Barça greater offensive depth.

However, the club is clear that a loan of Rashford would be a temporary solution and not a long-term fix. Meanwhile, Barça continues to set their sights on signing Rafa Leão. The Portuguese player from Milan represents the long-term option the club needs to give a new boost to their attack and build a more competitive squad.

Barça needs departures

Nevertheless, Barça faces difficulties in finalizing the loan of Rashford. For the operation to take place, the club needs to make at least one departure, which would free up a spot for the arrival of the English forward.

However, the main obstacle is Ansu Fati, who has refused to leave in this winter market. The young striker, despite not playing under Hansi Flick, continues to show his desire to stay at the club and fight for a place in the first team. Therefore, Ansu Fati's refusal to leave further complicates Barça's chances of meeting the financial and squad requirements to sign Rashford.

García Pimienta appears to do Barça a favor

In this context, Sevilla's coach, García Pimienta, could be key for Barcelona to obtain the necessary resources to take the final step in Rashford's loan. Sevilla is close to finalizing the signing of Mika Mármol for an amount close to 10 million.

In this regard, Barça holds 50% of the rights over this sale, meaning they would receive around 5 million euros from the operation. The sale of Mika would be the push Barça needs to close the deal with United and secure Rashford as a reinforcement for the second part of the season.
