Flick Kicks Out Another Barça Player After Atlético Incident: 'This Is Unsustainable...'

The German coach has been very clear with the club's sporting director and is requesting the departure of this star

The future of certain players at FC Barcelona seems more uncertain than ever. The current season is ongoing and the blaugrana team is achieving extraordinary results,  but Flick already knows which footballers he won't count on for the next campaign. In this regard, the German coach has already conveyed to Deco that he needs to find exits for the players who won't have a place in his scheme.

However, there is one footballer in particular whose situation surprises more than one. This player has gone from enjoying all the minutes with Hansi Flick on the bench to completely losing the coach's trust and all prominence. The management is aware of the situation and is already considering his departure, with several options on the table.

Future Away from Camp Nou

The continuity of Iñaki Peña as Barça's goalkeeper seems almost ruled out. The Spanish goalkeeper is not in Hansi Flick's plans for the next season. The lack of trust from the German coach in him and the need to strengthen the goalkeeping position have led Laporta and Deco to make a definitive decision.

Despite having the opportunity to show his level during Marc-André ter Stegen's absence, Iñaki Peña did not manage to convince the coaching staff, quite the opposite. His performance left doubts in key matches, which led Barça to seek alternatives for the goalkeeping position. In this scenario, the club is working to find him a new destination that will allow him to relaunch his career.

A New Challenge

The consolidation of Wojciech Szczęsny as the starter has been the confirmation that Flick has decided to bet on a more experienced goalkeeper. In this situation, Deco has started to move in the market to find an exit that benefits both the club and Iñaki Peña. Some La Liga clubs have shown interest in the Spanish goalkeeper, especially those looking for a goalkeeper with projection and experience.

There are also teams outside of Spain that could consider his signing as a future investment. Iñaki Peña already demonstrated his worth during his loan to Galatasaray, where he left a good impression, but it seems evident that his time at FC Barcelona is coming to an end. At 26 years old, the Spanish goalkeeper needs continuity and trust, something he will hardly find at the Catalan club.
