Confirmed, Fermín Packs His Bags and Says Goodbye to Barça: He Already Has a New Team

The Spanish midfielder might leave Barça and his future is a mystery for the culé management.

Fermín López's future as a Barça player is one of the biggest unknowns in the offices, knowing that his continuity raises doubts and is not guaranteed. It's no wonder:there is a lot of competition in the culé midfield and Hansi Flick has many alternatives for that area. In this regard, there are those who have had more prominence than Fermín in his position and this has forced him to settle for a clearly secondary role.

Players like Frenkie de Jong or Dani Olmo, not to mention Pedri and Gavi, are at an extraordinary level on the field. So much so that Fermín hasn't been able to earn a place in the starting eleven, despite continuing to demonstrate his skills whenever he has added minutes with the culé jersey. His ability to make a difference hasn't gone unnoticed in the European elite and there is already a new team strongly joining the race for Fermín López.

Future in Doubt

It's no surprise to anyone that Fermín would like to play more regularly, especially considering that the 2026 World Cup is just around the corner. This has led the Spanish international to consider all the options he has even though he recently renewed his contract with Barça. In this regard, at Camp Nou they can't promise him the continuity he expects and Fermín has begun to consider a possible change of scenery in the summer.

While it's true that the Spanish midfielder reached an agreement with Laporta and Deco a couple of months ago to stay at Barça until 2029, nothing is certain. And this new link between the club and the player hasn't been an obstacle for many important elite teams to show interest in his signing. There is one club in particular that has been following Fermín for some time, knowing that this uncertainty can be decisive.

Insist on His Signing

Over the past few months, Fermín has sparked interest from teams like Milan, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Chelsea, or Tottenham. However, everything seems to indicate that none of these clubs are a match for Atlético de Madrid, which is closely and insistently monitoring the situation of the culé gem. The Spanish midfielder is very much to Diego Simeone's liking, who wants him at all costs to improve the colchonero squad.

The colchonero coach has asked Enrique Cerezo to start negotiations to secure his signing. But even though Fermín isn't a protagonist at Barça, they don't intend to give him away. Thus, Fermín would only leave the club if an offer exceeding 50 million euros at a minimum were to arrive.
