Fermín Has Admitted It, He Already Has a New Team: Goodbye Barça in 2 Weeks, It's Closed

Barça's two homegrown players would be greatly benefited by Arne Slot's team's latest goal

Barça has one of the best midfields in Europe. The quantity and quality of players in this position is impressive, with names like Marc Casadó, Fermín López, Frenkie de Jong, Pablo Torre, Dani Olmo, Pedri, and Gavi. Each of them brings different qualities that make the blaugrana midfield a true top-level.

This accumulation of great players gives Hansi Flick's team many tactical options and variations to adapt to different opponents and competitions. However, it also creates a problem: there aren't enough minutes for everyone. With so many high-level players in the squad, some end up relegated to the bench and see their participation in the team limited.

The Most Affected by the Abundance of Players

Currently, the starters seem to be quite defined. Pedri, Gavi, and De Jong are Flick's choices to be the base of the team in important matches. This has left other players like Marc Casadó and Fermín López in the background, who have seen how they are playing less.

Both Marc Casadó and Fermín López have demonstrated their quality when they have had opportunities, but the hierarchy of the starters has prevailed.

Frenkie de Jong Has Changed the Paradigm

One of the main affected by this situation has been Marc Casadó. The youth player started the season with an important role and earned the coaching staff's trust. However, Flick has insisted on Frenkie de Jong, who has regained the starting position and that has pushed Casadó to the bench.

The Dutch midfielder has elevated his level in recent months and has become a key piece in Barça. His experience, quality in distribution, and leadership ability have made him an undisputed player in Flick's scheme. Nevertheless, although this has been great news for the team, it has meant a blow for Casadó, who has lost prominence and opportunities to continue growing in the first team.

Liverpool Could Do Casadó and Fermín a Favor

Despite his good performance, Frenkie de Jong's future at Barça isn't assured. His contract ends in 2026 and, according to 'El Nacional.cat', Liverpool has shown interest in signing him. The English are looking to strengthen their midfield and see the Dutchman as an ideal player for Arne Slot's style.

Barça, aware of De Jong's contractual situation, doesn't want him to leave for free. Therefore, if Liverpool decides to pay the 35 million that the blaugrana club wants to set as the price, the Dutchman could leave next summer. In that scenario, players like Marc Casadó and Fermín López could regain prominence and have more minutes in the team.
