Hansi Flick's Barça has rediscovered its best version on the field at the best possible moment. After the German coach hit the right note once again, the Catalan club has left behind the bad times it experienced until recently. Now the results are once again joining Barça, which has re-entered the fight for the most important titles of the season after winning the Super Cup.
But aside from the splendid moment Flick's men are experiencing, the sports management is already thinking about how to continue strengthening the squad managed by the German coach and company. Deco has been scouting the market for some time following his duties as sporting director and has conveyed to Laporta that there are certain positions that need to be reinforced more urgently. In this regard, the technical secretariat has set a new target who is part of PSG's ranks, but the response from the Parisian team has not been well received.
No Prominence with Luis Enrique
As is already known, in the offices of the Catalan club they are looking for a new left-back who can compete with Alejandro Balde for the starting position on the field. Hansi Flick has encountered many problems throughout the course in that area considering Balde's physical issues and the lack of a reliable replacement. With this in mind, Barça's interest in Nuno Mendes seems very serious, and both Joan Laporta and Deco consider him an interesting alternative.
Barça's sporting director continues to study the incorporation of the Paris Saint-Germain star, who has a practically nonexistent relationship with Luis Enrique. This has led Nuno Mendes to want a change of scenery and leave France after a few seasons. However, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi will not make it easy for FC Barcelona and has replied firmly: 50 million euros for him or no deal.
A Response That Hasn't Been Well Received
At Camp Nou, they are willing to make many efforts to move in the market, but paying 50 million for Nuno Mendes is not on that list. Both Deco and Laporta believe it is a really high price considering they don't see his arrival as a priority over other market alternatives. Therefore, the Barça president has told Deco to forget about those 50 million euros and find another way.
The sporting director is already looking for options to reduce the cost of Nuno Mendes and has a plan in mind that could be interesting for the Paris team. Deco has proposed to Al-Khelaïfi the possibility of a swap deal that would include Andreas Christensen. Thus, by including the player in the operation, Barça hopes that Mendes can join the squad for a maximum price of 15 million.
