Barça's locker room is a powder keg because of Marcus Rashford: Gavi gets angry

The Andalusian footballer is certain that the club will not be able to go after Barça's top-level talents because of the Englishman

The transfer market continues to bring unexpected moves at FC Barcelona. Marcus Rashford's arrival at the blaugrana squad has had an immediate effect inside the locker room. Although the club considers his addition strategic, not all players have welcomed his signing.

Competition on the wings has increased significantly. Rashford, with his speed, dribbling, and goal-scoring ability, is a profile that fits into Hansi Flick's plans. However, his presence drastically reduces the options for other footballers who were hoping for a more prominent role in the squad.

One of the first to show his discomfort has been Raphinha,  the Brazilian, who had a spectacular season, now sees how competition multiplies. Ferran Torres hasn't hidden his discontent either. The Valencian, who finished last season in better form, expected to have continuity, but the Englishman's arrival could relegate him to the bench again.

Jan Virgili gets lost at Barça

However, it's not only the established names who are being affected; one of the young players with the greatest potential at the blaugrana club has also felt the impact. This is Jan Virgili, one of the great prospects from La Masia. The 20-year-old winger had been pushing for a place from the reserve team and had been closely followed by the blaugrana coaching staff.

Virgili took part in preseason and left a good impression. His speed, boldness, and ability to take on defenders had earned him some minutes during training sessions under Flick's orders. However, with Rashford now in the squad, his chances have been practically nullified.

Gavi asks for more minutes

In this scenario, the Catalan club and the player have made a decision: Jan Virgili is very close to leaving on loan in this same summer transfer window.  His destination will be RCD Mallorca, a team that has shown great interest in acquiring his services. The deal could be finalized in the next few hours and would last until June 2026, with an option to cut the loan in 2025 if Barça deems it necessary.

The loan is understood as a strategic measure; FC Barcelona wants Virgili to get minutes and continue his development process in the First Division. In Mallorca, he will have the opportunity to compete in a demanding environment and with less media pressure.  A formula that has already produced good results with other academy players in the past.

Rashford's arrival, therefore, has triggered the first outgoing move. However, more cases could still occur. The market is open and other departures are not ruled out, especially in the attacking area, where competition is fierce; Marcus Rashford needs to get minutes.
