Barça delivers a shock and puts the global star up for sale: €70M for Lamine's friend

The club would not have any issues selling one of its most valued players

Last season, Barça made the decision to bet on Dani Olmo. The Spanish attacking midfielder, who had been shining at RB Leipzig, was chosen as the major summer signing over Nico Williams. At that time, the club valued Olmo's versatility, understanding of Barça's play style, and international experience as key arguments.

The signing caused a lot of expectation. Olmo arrived as a player who knew Barça's style well, having been trained at La Masia, and with the maturity to make a difference. Although Nico Williams didn't sign, Dani Olmo's initial performance partly justified the choice, especially in the first half of the season.

A notable impact when he has been available

When he has played, Dani Olmo has shown that he is a quality addition for Hansi Flick's team. His partnership with Pedri and Frenkie de Jong in midfield has been key.

In fact, in several stretches of the season, Olmo was decisive. Both in La Liga and Copa del Rey, he delivered outstanding performances and helped raise the team's level. His versatility to play both inside and on the wing was an important tactical advantage.

Disappointment in key matches and medical doubts

However, not everything has been positive in his first year as a blaugrana. Dani Olmo left much to be desired in the important matches at the end of the season. The clearest case was the Champions League semifinal against Inter, where more was expected from his contribution and he ended up going unnoticed.

In addition, his injury history remains a cause for concern. Olmo has been sidelined several times throughout the season, missing decisive moments and breaking his continuity in the starting eleven. This lack of physical consistency has diminished his overall performance and has meant that, despite his quality, he hasn't managed to establish himself as an indispensable player for Flick.

Barça would be open to his departure

For all these reasons, according to El Nacional, Barça would be open to listening to offers for Dani Olmo if they reach a figure close to €70 million. Although this isn't a priority operation, the club understands that it could be a good financial opportunity if a team shows interest in him.

The final decision will depend on several factors: the offers that arrive, the development of the market, and, above all, the player's will. In any case, Olmo is no longer untouchable, and Barça are analyzing all possible scenarios while preparing for a new season.
