Flick doesn't even want to see him at Barça: now he'll be Atlético's star, sold

The Colchonero team wants a forward who was once on Barça's radar

Atlético de Madrid will make moves in this summer transfer window to strengthen their attacking line. Despite having Alexander Sørloth, Julián Álvarez, and Antoine Griezmann, the coaching staff considers it essential to expand the squad depth. The demands of competing in several competitions and the need to give starters some rest have led the club to prioritize signings in that area.

Simeone has communicated to the sporting management his desire to have more options up front. While the foundation is covered with three experienced and quality forwards, "Cholo" wants more firepower, more versatility, and above all, more rotation. In this regard, Atlético are looking for players who can adapt to several roles and who arrive ready to compete from the very first minute.

Correa set for exit and Griezmann fails to convince

One of the keys to this move is Ángel Correa's situation. The Argentine has lost prominence in Simeone's system and everything indicates that his time at the rojiblanco club could be coming to an end.

Added to this is Antoine Griezmann's drop in form. The Frenchman, who was Atlético's undisputed leader in previous seasons, hasn't managed to keep the level that was expected during the past year. Although he remains a starter and a respected figure, his performance has raised doubts.

Federico Chiesa, Atlético's card

According to El Nacional, the name that has gained the most traction in Atlético's plans in recent weeks is Federico Chiesa. He can play on both wings and as a second striker, which fits perfectly with what Simeone is looking for.

Talks would have already started and both a loan with a purchase option and a direct transfer are being considered. Everything will depend on the conditions set by Juventus and the player's wishes.

Barça wanted him too

It should be remembered that Federico Chiesa was also on Barça's radar during the last winter transfer window. The Catalan club seriously considered bringing him in to strengthen the wings, but financial limitations prevented the deal from being completed. In the end, the striker ended up joining Liverpool, where he has had few minutes.

The fact that Barça had him on their list is a reflection of Chiesa's level and potential. His profile is highly sought after and his international experience makes him a top-level option. If Atlético manage to complete his signing, they'll secure a proven quality reinforcement who can make a difference in the key moments of the season.
