Unexpected twist in Balde's future at Barça: He has a new team, they pay a lot

The Spanish full-back might leave the Barça club this summer heading to an English club.

La Masia is once again a protagonist this season, and its relevance in the first team hasn't gone unnoticed. The club is regaining the essence of its philosophy, where players trained in the academy are fundamental to the first team's success. This season, young talents like Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsí, Marc Casadó, and Alejandro Balde have taken on key roles, with Lamine Yamal being the standout star.

Additionally, other players like Gavi and Fermín López are expected to grow even more and take on greater responsibilities in the team. The commitment to La Masia's youth, combined with the experience of veterans like Lewandowski or Raphinha, is paying off and helping Barcelona regain its identity.

Alejandro Balde, Barça's Established Full-back

Alejandro Balde has established himself as Barça's undisputed left-back. After a spectacular season in which he took the spot from Jordi Alba two years ago, the defender earned Xavi's trust and became a starter. His speed, dribbling, and ability to reach the opponent's area made him an essential piece in the blaugrana scheme.

At just 21 years old, Balde seemed to have a bright future at the club, however, this season, his performance has been more inconsistent. Despite being the undisputed starter, the drop in his level of play has been evident in some phases of the season. His defensive ability and offensive contribution haven't been as consistent as in his first campaign.

Barça Sets a Price

According to "El Nacional.cat," his future at Barça could be in jeopardy if a significant offer arrives next summer market. It's mentioned that the club would be willing to sell him if an offer close to 55 million comes in, a considerable figure that could be attractive for Barça's finances. In this context, Arsenal, one of the most interested teams, has shown interest in transfer the Spanish full-back.

While Barça isn't in a hurry to sell Balde, an offer of that magnitude could make the club reconsider the situation. Despite his talent, Barcelona needs to balance its finances, and if a substantial offer were to come in, it could be an opportunity to cash in.

Flick Knows Who His Replacement Would be

If Balde leaves Barça, the club already has a possible replacement in mind. Hansi Flick has shown interest in transfer Alphonso Davies, Bayern Munich's left-back, whose contract ends in the summer. The Canadian, known for his speed and offensive capability, would be an ideal option for Barça, which could bring in the world-class full-back without having to pay.

The possibility of transfer Davies also reflects Barça's desire to strengthen its left-back position with a top-level player. If Balde's departure is confirmed, transfer Davies would be a very viable option for Barça, which could seize the opportunity to improve its team.
