Tottenham Doubles the Offer to Take Him from Barça: Sold, Gavi Completely KO

It's a very important offer for the Barcelona player, but the heart rules and the response has surprised everyone

One of the great surprises of the 2024-2025 season at FC Barcelona has a name and surname: Eric García. The Catalan defender, who just a few months ago seemed completely written off from the blaugrana project, has made a radical turnaround in his situation. His loan to Girona served to regain sensations and confidence, but no one anticipated that he would have a leading role in the club's new era.

With the arrival of Hansi Flick to the Barça bench last summer, a new stage opened for many footballers, especially for those who had been going through difficult times. In that context, Eric has known how to seize the opportunity and has established himself as a reliable piece in the defense. His tactical reading, his ability to play the ball out, and his enormous commitment have convinced the German coach, who hasn't hesitated to give him many quality minutes.

The former Manchester City player has shown that he is ready to compete at the highest level. In the locker room, they value his evolution, and within the club's environment, there is increasing talk of his weight within the team. At 24 years old, Eric García is beginning to establish himself not only as a present option but also for the future.

Eric Wants to Succeed at the Club of His Heart

The Spanish international, trained at La Masia, is clear that his great dream is to succeed at FC Barcelona.  Despite being linked with possible exits during various stages, he has always shown his commitment to the club. This season he has taken the step forward that was desired, and that hasn't gone unnoticed.

His good performances have put him back on the radar of the Spanish National Team. In fact, it wouldn't be far-fetched to think of a possible return of Eric García to La Roja's drafts. Flick, who knows European soccer well, knows he has a center-back with room for improvement but with the conditions to perform at the elite level.

Tottenham Shows Interest, but It Won't Be Easy to Take Him

Eric García's contract with Barcelona ends in 2026, although his market value is on the rise, within the club there is a certain prudence. He is recognized as a player with irregular performance phases, and that invites some caution for the future. The official stance is clear: Flick doesn't want him to leave,  however, if an offer of at least 20 million euros were to arrive, the directors might reconsider the situation.

One of the clubs that has shown interest in the defender is Tottenham Hotspur. The London team is looking to strengthen its defense with a center-back who knows how to handle playing the ball out from the back, and Eric fits that profile. Additionally, on a salary level, the defender wouldn't look unfavorably on an economic improvement if the opportunity arose.

Even so, sources close to the player's environment assure that for Eric to accept moving to English soccer, the offer would have to be really convincing. He won't move from Barcelona at any price; his priority remains to succeed at the club he holds dear. Barça knows it... and so does the market.
