Sold, Flick Can't Stand Him Anymore and He Already Has a New Team: Ter Stegen Already Knows, Goodbye

In recent weeks, the attitude of Barça's player has made the German coach explode.

FC Barcelona Prepares for a Major Change in Goal for the Upcoming Season. With Marc-André ter Stegen getting closer to returning from his injury, the sports management has made a decision regarding the competition in the blaugrana goal.

The German goalkeeper has already returned to training and, if everything goes according to plan, he will be ready to defend the team's goal again before the end of the season. However, while his recovery progresses, the situation of his substitute has taken an unexpected turn, leading Joan Laporta to intervene.

An Unexpected Change in Goal

When Ter Stegen was injured, the starting position fell to Iñaki Peña, who performed admirably during the first few weeks.  His performance was solid, and he seemed to have earned the coaching staff's trust.

However, in the Spanish Super Cup, Hansi Flick made a surprising decision: he opted to make a change in goal, relegating Iñaki Peña to the bench without clear explanations.

Since then, the situation of the Alicante goalkeeper has taken a turn, raising doubts about his future at the club. The lack of continuity and the coach's little confidence have caused unrest in his environment, forcing the management to take action.

Laporta Has Already Made a Decision

With Ter Stegen's imminent return, FC Barcelona's president doesn't want to leave any loose ends. The goal is a key position, and the uncertainty surrounding the substitute doesn't benefit the team.

In this scenario, Laporta has defined a clear plan and has communicated his stance to the sports management. The conclusion is clear: Iñaki Peña will not continue at the club next season. But Barça wants to handle his departure in the best possible way.

The blaugrana club doesn't intend to lose Iñaki Peña without gaining benefits.  His contract expires in 2026, so the management has proposed two options for his immediate future:

Renewal and subsequent transfer: Barça would offer him a contract extension with the intention of securing a beneficial transfer in the market, avoiding a departure for a low fee.

Summer departure with a suitable offer: If the player prefers to change scenery immediately, Barça will accept a proposal in the next market to allow his departure without obstacles. Both alternatives aim to prevent the club from losing assets without obtaining financial compensation.

Ter Stegen Already Knows the Plan

As captain and a key figure in the locker room, Ter Stegen has been informed of the management's decision. The German will continue to be the reference in goal, and his full recovery will be key to restoring the team's defensive solidity.

However, Iñaki Peña's departure leaves a void that Barça will need to fill. Laporta and the sports management are already considering possible reinforcements for the goal. With the aim of finding a reliable substitute without creating another internal conflict.

For now, the only certainty is that Ter Stegen will regain his place as soon as he's ready. But his competition in goal will have to decide which path to take.

With the summer market on the horizon, Barça's goal could undergo significant changes in the coming months. A new era is approaching for the blaugrana club, where stability in every position will be essential to continue competing at the highest level.
