Simeone will sign another Barça player: Lenglet won't be the only one, Flick already knows it.

Atlético de Madrid's coach wants a defender from the blaugrana team

Atlético Madrid has made it a priority to strengthen the defensive line for the upcoming summer market. This season, the team led by Simeone has suffered serious problems in the defense, which have been reflected in the lack of solidity that historically characterized the red and whites. The continuous injuries of José María Giménez, one of the defensive stalwarts, have been a constant, preventing the Uruguayan from keeping a minimum regularity.

Added to this is the poor performance of Le Normand, who has not managed to establish himself as a reliable center-back despite the expectations caused by his signing. His lack of decisiveness and errors at key moments have caused doubts within the coaching staff and the sports management. Therefore, Atlético is exploring alternatives in the market and has set its sights on players they know, such as those currently belonging to Barça.

The first will be Lenglet

In this regard, one of the moves that Atlético Madrid has on the table is to execute the purchase option for Clément Lenglet. The French center-back, on loan from Barça, has convinced Simeone with his tactical reliability and his experience at the elite level. Although he hasn't been an undisputed starter, his performance has been more than acceptable compared to other position mates.

The club would be willing to finalize his signing for 10 million, an amount they consider reasonable for a player with knowledge of La Liga and who has adapted well. Meanwhile, Barça doesn't see it negatively to part ways with Lenglet permanently, as he is not in Flick's plans and his departure would lighten the wage bill.

They inquire about another Barça center-back

But Lenglet wouldn't be the only Barça player on Atlético's radar. According to El Nacional, the red and whites have also shown interest in Ronald Araujo. The Uruguayan center-back, who just a year ago was considered untouchable at Barça, has experienced a season of ups and downs marked by occasional errors.

Atlético values Araujo's profile very positively: a fast defender, strong in aerial play, and with leadership. Simeone believes he could regain his best level under his command, and the club would be willing to make a financial effort if Barça opens the door to his departure. The possibility of incorporating him is far from simple, but the interest is real and firm.

Araujo's poor performance is concerning

Araujo has a release clause of 65 million, an amount manageable for a club like Atlético if they decide to make an investment in defense. The fact that the player has lost some solidity this season, coupled with his relationship with the fans not being at its best, could facilitate a departure.

Meanwhile, Barça is starting to consider all options. Although Flick counts on him, the sports management doesn't rule out cashing in on Araujo if his irregular performance continues and if a serious proposal like Atlético's appears. The summer will be key to defining the future of the Uruguayan, who has gone from being an undisputed pillar to becoming an enigma.
