Official, Barça Leaves PSG Without a Star and Al-Khelaifi Explodes: 'They've Laughed at Me'

FC Barcelona continues working on planning for the next season and is about to finalize its second signing of the summer. Although the transfer market hasn't officially opened yet, Joan Laporta and the sports management have been negotiating quietly to strengthen Flick's squad.

The first confirmed signing was Jonathan Tah, who will arrive to reinforce the central defense. But Barça hasn't stopped there and has advanced in signing a right-back with great potential, one of the club's priorities for the next season.

The major obstacle that could prevent this addition is Paris Saint-Germain.  Luis Enrique's team has also shown interest in this player, and its president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, is known for disrupting negotiations when least expected. However, in this case, PSG would have to pay 100M euros if they want to prevent the footballer from ending up wearing the Barça colors.

Barça and Its Plan for the Right-Back

Currently, Barça's right-back position is one with certain doubts. Jules Koundé has been the regular starter this season, although his performance has fluctuated. Meanwhile, Héctor Fort, a young prospect from La Masia, hasn't fully convinced Flick, and his departure on loan is practically decided.

With this situation, the arrival of a new right-back is essential. Hansi Flick has asked the management for a player with experience and room for growth, capable of competing with Koundé for the position and ensuring defensive solidity.  The player chosen by Barça fits this profile, and everything indicates that the signing will be finalized in the coming days.

Barça is cautiously following this move, as PSG has shown more than once that they can appear at the last moment with an exorbitant offer. However, in this case, Al-Khelaifi doesn't seem willing to pay the 100M euros that would be necessary to secure the player's services.

The Parisian club is looking to strengthen several positions and doesn't consider it a priority to spend such a high amount on a right-back. With this withdrawal, Barça has a clear path to finalize the signing.

With PSG out of the equation, Barça has finalized the agreement with Marc Pubill, a 21-year-old right-back from Almería. Born in Terrassa, Pubill has caught the attention of several LaLiga clubs for his defensive solidity and ability to advance in attack.

The operation represents a future investment for Barça, which incorporates a young player with much room for improvement. Pubill is expected to arrive this summer and start the preseason with the team, ready to compete for a spot in the starting eleven.
