New culprit in Barça's draw against Rayo: Flick scolded him

The draw against the Madrid side is still causing a stir at the club

Barça's draw in the third matchday of La Liga against Rayo Vallecano continues to generate controversy. Beyond the result, what hurt the coaching staff the most was the lack of intensity shown during the 90 minutes. The team didn't work in attack or defense, and that was reflected both on the scoreboard and in the feelings left by the match.

After the match, both Hansi Flick and Lamine Yamal were clear in their statements:  "There was no pressure, there was no attitude", they said. The German coach didn't hold back and hinted that some players weren't up to what the badge demands. He wasn't just referring to the game: the lack of commitment at key moments was also a reason for internal analysis.

A team without soul for 90 minutes

From the opening whistle, Barça looked flat, with no clear ideas or intensity to win the ball back. Rayo, without playing a great match, knew how to take advantage of the Culers' passivity to equalize a duel that, on paper, was favorable for Flick's side.

Players like Raphinha and Dani Olmo were especially singled out. Both, expected to be offensive leaders, delivered a performance well below their usual level. Raphinha lost many balls and looked rushed, while Olmo was practically unnoticed, without creating imbalance or leading.

Flick's anger with Dani Olmo

According to El Nacional, the real problem came in the locker room. Flick reportedly ended up visibly upset with Dani Olmo, not only because of his performance, but especially because of his attitude and lack of intensity during the match. Apparently, the coach expected much more from the Spanish international, both in footballing and mental terms.

This isn't the first time Flick has demanded more from Olmo. He considers him a key player, with experience and talent, but believes he still hasn't taken the definitive step to lead the team. The anger after the draw could be a turning point: either he raises his level, or he could lose prominence in the coming matches.

Are changes coming?

The German coach has already shown that he doesn't hesitate to make changes. While Dani Olmo has credit for his track record, other players like Fermín or Gavi could gain importance if they seize their opportunities with more attitude. In a team as competitive as this Barça, no one has a guaranteed spot.
