Koeman Kicked Him Out of Barça and Now Flick Urgently Needs Him: 'He Has to Return Now'

Barça needs reinforcements for certain positions and the German coach already has a chosen one

FC Barcelona continues to explore options in the market to strengthen their attack. Although names like Rafael Leao or Nico Williams have been on the table, Deco has opted for a more economical and viable alternative.

The winger, who was discarded by Ronald Koeman at the time, has excelled again and his performance has sparked Barça's interest. The club still retains a buyback option for 25 million euros.

Deco Seeks Accessible Reinforcements

Barça's sporting director, Deco, has played an essential role in the reconstruction of the culé sports project. Under his management, the club has managed to close multimillion-dollar contracts like that of Nike, which will allow them to face new signings with greater financial margin.

However, Barcelona still has financial limitations and can't compete with other big clubs in terms of transfer figures. Signings like Nico Williams (60 million euros) or Rafael Leao (70-80 million euros) are complicated for the club's finances.

Therefore, Deco has changed strategy and has set his sights on an old acquaintance of Barça, who now shines in Portugal.

The Rebirth of a Discarded Talent

Francisco Trincao arrived at Barcelona in 2020 from SC Braga for 31 million euros, with the label of being one of the great promises of Portuguese soccer. However, his performance in the blue and red team did not convince Koeman, who barely gave him continuity.

After a loan at Wolverhampton in the Premier League and another at Sporting Portugal, Trincao has found his best version. This season he has recorded 9 goals and 15 assists, becoming a key piece of the Lisbon team.

FC Barcelona still retains a buyback option for Trincao, set at 25 million euros, valid until 2026. This clause makes the Portuguese a much more affordable alternative than other wingers in the market.

Additionally, his prior knowledge of the club and his adaptation to the blue and red play style could facilitate his reintegration into the team.

Does He Fit in Barça's New Project?

The arrival of Hansi Flick as coach marks a new era for Barça, with a focus on versatile players with the ability to break through. Trincao fits that profile and could be an interesting option to compete for a spot in the attack alongside players like Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Ferran Torres.

FC Barcelona is seriously considering exercising their buyback option for Trincao, especially given the difficulty of signing Nico Williams or Rafael Leao.

If he maintains his great performance at Sporting Portugal, the Portuguese's return could become one of the surprises of the transfer market. Showing that sometimes second chances can work.
