Decision made, no turning back: historic betrayal of Barça by Ter Stegen, he's going to...

Unexpected move in the transfer market. Inter Milan has set its sights on a top-level goalkeeper who could leave FC Barcelona this summer. The Italian club is looking to strengthen its goalkeeping position and has initiated contacts to sign an experienced and internationally proven goalkeeper.

Marc-André ter Stegen has emerged as the main target. The German goalkeeper, at 33 years old, is seriously considering a change of scenery. After many years as the undisputed starter between the posts at Camp Nou, the situation has changed drastically.  The emergence of new talents and the club's financial pressure have pushed the German international to reconsider his immediate future.

FC Barcelona isn't ruling out his departure. The sporting management views his exit favorably if a significant offer arrives. The goalkeeper's high salary and his age make his continuity a less than ideal scenario for the club's plans. In addition, the Catalan club is looking to reduce its wage bill and generate income from players with market value. Ter Stegen meets both requirements.

Italy comes for Marc

Inter has sounded out his camp to gauge his willingness. The Lombard club knows the operation won't be easy, but they trust the footballer's desire to seek a new environment. In Milan, they're offering him a leading role and guaranteed playing time. Exactly what Ter Stegen  is looking for at this final stage of his career.

The German isn't willing to accept a secondary role. The latest sporting decisions at Barça, which have diminished his importance at key moments, haven't pleased the player. Although he remains a locker room leader, he's no longer untouchable for the coaching staff or the board. His position in the team has lost strength.

The goalkeeper wants playing time

Privately, the goalkeeper has already expressed his discomfort. He doesn't want to become the third-choice goalkeeper in the squad or go through a token season. If the situation doesn't change, he'll request to leave. He has offers from Germany, but Inter's interest is especially appealing to him. The sporting project of the "Neroazzurris" and the chance to compete for titles seem very attractive to him.

Meanwhile, Barcelona is open to listening to offers. The German's departure would allow the club to improve financially and accelerate other moves in the market.  Although his farewell would have a strong emotional impact, the board sees it as a rebuilding opportunity. Inter Milan wants to take advantage of this context to sign him.

The Italian side has made the goalkeeper position a priority and has placed Ter Stegen as its number one target. The operation is in its initial phase, but negotiations could intensify in the coming days if the player gives the green light. Marc-André ter Stegen, after a decade  at Camp Nou, could be living his final moments as a Barça player.
