Flick has said it, there's no turning back: the latest between Gavi and Barça changes everything

The German coach has avoided a major departure

Last season was historic for Barça, and much of the credit went to the midfield. Hansi Flick, in his first season, managed to consolidate a trio that set the pace for the entire team: Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, and Dani Olmo. Together, they were essential in winning the domestic treble (triplete nacional).

Flick found in them the perfect harmony to dominate matches and make a difference. It was that balance, largely in the midfield, that laid the foundation for Barça's solidity throughout the campaign.

Gavi and Fermín want more prominence

In a club with so much talent, the competition is enormous. With the arrival of this new season, there are two names making a strong push: Gavi and Fermín. Both showed last campaign that they're more than ready to take on greater responsibilities

Now, with another year of experience and growth, they want to step forward. They don't want to remain in the rotation. Both are clear that their moment is near and they'll fight to become regulars in the starting eleven.

Interest from across Europe

Several European clubs, alert to Barça's situation and the overcrowding in the midfield, have started to probe Gavi and Fermín's situation. They know that in a team where a starting spot isn't guaranteed, they might listen to offers if they don't feel valued.

Especially Fermín, who has been the subject of some proposals from Premier League and Bundesliga teams, who have already shown interest in him. The player's entourage has received approaches, although for now there's no intention to move. In Gavi's case, the interest exists, but his emotional bond with Barça makes the situation more stable.

Gavi, key piece for Flick

According to the portal "Madrid-Barcelona," if there's one thing Hansi Flick is certain about, it's that Gavi will be a much more important figure this season. The German coach considers him a key piece because of his commitment, versatility, and ability to change the pace of matches. In fact, in the preseason, he's already started to give him more weight in the starting eleven.

For this reason, the club has closed ranks around him. He's not for sale and no loans are being considered. Flick's intention is for Gavi not only to have more minutes, but also to establish himself as a potential starter in key matches.
