Barça has closed this summer's transfer market. After weeks of negotiations and moves, the club has added two signings to strengthen Flick's squad for the new season. Marcus Rashford has arrived on loan from Manchester United, while Joan García has joined from Espanyol.
With these two additions, the sporting management considers that the squad is balanced and ready to compete in everything. Flick, satisfied with the arrivals, has worked during the preseason to integrate both into the system. The first impressions have been positive.
Flick already thinks about 2026
In any case, Barça is already looking to the future. According to El Nacional, Flick has started to outline his wishes for next year's transfer market, in 2026. The German wants the club to work ahead of time.
Flick has already hinted to the sporting management the profiles he considers a priority to strengthen Barça in the medium term. The goal is for the planning not to be limited to solving emergencies, but to respond to a sustained project that guarantees competitiveness and continuity in the most decisive positions on the field.
Julián Álvarez, Lewandowski's replacement
Flick's first major request would be Julián Álvarez. The Argentine forward, currently at Atlético de Madrid, would be the ideal replacement for Robert Lewandowski, whose contract with Barça ends next year.
The operation, however, wouldn't be simple. Julián Álvarez is one of Atlético's key players and has a long-term contract, which would force Barça into a complicated negotiation. Even so, at Barça they believe that his signing would mean a natural transition in the attack.
Bastoni, the desired left-footed center-back
The second name on Flick's list is Alessandro Bastoni, from Inter de Milán. The Italian defender is one of the most sought-after left-footed center-backs in Europe, thanks to his ball-playing ability, defensive reliability, and experience. The German believes that Bastoni would be the perfect addition to strengthen the defense and balance the back line with a profile that is currently scarce.
Bastoni, like Julián Álvarez, wouldn't be an easy signing. Inter considers him a key piece and his market price is high. However, at Barça they are aware that strengthening the defense with a quality left-footed profile is a medium-term necessity.
