Fabrizio Romano confirms, Rashford is NOT the last signing: 'He's the icing on the cake'

The German coach has suggested one more signing if the salary cap allows it

Although Barça has already made two major signings in this summer transfer window, the club doesn't consider its work in the offices to be finished yet. The sporting management is still analyzing possible moves with the goal of further strengthening the squad ahead of a demanding season.

Hansi Flick has told the club's decision-makers that there's still room for improvement in some key positions. Although the core of the team already seems well defined, there's some concern within the coaching staff about the squad depth in certain areas.

Reinforcing the left back position is being considered

One of the areas where there are the most doubts is the left back position. Currently, Alejandro Balde is the undisputed starter, and a lot is expected from him this season. However, his backup, Gerard Martín, hasn't fully convinced despite having performed last year.

For this reason, Flick has reportedly requested that, if Fair Play allows, an effort be made to strengthen that left flank, according to El Nacional. All because the German coach's intention is to have a balanced squad with quality alternatives in every line.

Grimaldo, the favorite for the left back position

In this regard, the name that's been mentioned the most is Alejandro Grimaldo. The Bayer Leverkusen left back, who came up through Barça's youth academy, would welcome a return to the blaugrana club. Grimaldo is coming off outstanding seasons in the Bundesliga and is a world-class player.

Grimaldo stands out for his attacking mindset, international experience, and his ability to create danger from the left flank. His profile fits perfectly with Barça's style, and his previous knowledge of the club would make a possible quick adaptation easier. In addition, he would be an option that wouldn't interfere with Balde's development, but would instead boost it through internal competition.

A market opportunity for €15-20 million

According to various reports, Grimaldo's asking price would be between €15 and €20 million. This amount is considered a real bargain for the quality and experience the player would bring. The club assures that if enough salary cap space is freed up—possibly with the departures of Ter Stegen, Pau Víctor, or Iñaki Peña—an effort to close the deal isn't ruled out.

The market remains open and nothing is ruled out at Barça. Although the main focus right now is on registering the signings already made, any opportunity that represents a qualitative improvement for the squad will be considered until the last day. Grimaldo could be that opportunity.
