FC Barcelona have wrapped up their tour of Asia with a resounding victory. The team led by Hansi Flick defeated Korean side Daegu 5-0. The goals came in the 21st, 27th, 45+2, 54th, and 65th minutes, clearly showing the blaugrana's superiority.
Gavi was responsible for opening the scoring with a goal in the 21st minute of the first half. Shortly after, Lewandowski extended the lead by taking advantage of a through ball in the 27th minute of the match. Right before halftime, Gavi scored again to complete his brace with a precise shot in the 45+2 minute.
In the second half, Toni Fernández joined the party by scoring the fourth in the 54th minute. Finally, Marcus Rashford sealed the rout with the fifth goal in the 65th minute of the match. The score reflects the absolute dominance of a Barça side that was vastly superior in every aspect of the game.
Statistics speak
The difference between the two teams was also reflected in the numbers. Barça completed a total of 800 passes with 91% accuracy, compared to Daegu's 300. In terms of possession, the blaugranas dominated with a crushing 72% of the ball during the match.
Additionally, the Catalan team took 22 shots, 13 of them on target, compared to just 2 from the opponent. Although they committed 11 fouls, they didn't receive any cards, while Daegu committed only 2 fouls without cautions. The blaugranas also forced 8 corner kicks and didn't fall into offside even once.
Beyond the result, the match left positive conclusions for Flick, especially regarding the young players. Toni Fernández once again played a starring role with a goal included and made it clear that he can have a place. Dro Fernández also showed promising signs and proved that he can earn minutes with the first team.
Both footballers have been among the most outstanding names on this tour. Their attitude, commitment, and quality have made them pleasant surprises for the coaching staff. As of today, they're more in than out of Flick's plans for the new season.
Not everyone convinces
However, not all impressions have been positive. One of the footballers who traveled with the first team hasn't managed to take the desired step forward. Despite his quality and potential, he hasn't been able to stand out like his fellow academy players.
Flick has valued his class, but believes that he's not yet ready to integrate into the first team's dynamics. The player has made it clear that he doesn't want to continue with the reserve team and is looking for a new competitive challenge. That's why the club is already working on an agreed and beneficial exit for all parties.
The goal is to find him a loan to a team where he can get minutes and grow as a footballer. Flick doesn't want to lose track of him and will follow him very closely during this upcoming season. The idea is for him to return to the club with more experience and ready to make the definitive leap.
This is Dani Rodríguez, one of the midfielders with the greatest potential from La Masia in recent years. Although his situation is complex, Barça believe in his talent and won't let him go. His development from now on will determine his future at Camp Nou.
