Fermín puts Barça in an unprecedented mess: key hours for his future, he's leaving to...

Barça's sports management has asked Fermín for a response regarding the interest from major teams

Barça's sporting management continues to face a very hectic summer transfer window, with more doubts than certainties on several fronts. In the midst of the plans for signings, sales, and squad restructuring led by Joan Laporta, Deco, and Hansi Flick, a new setback has emerged. The uncertainty surrounding Fermín López's future is one of the biggest breakthroughs of the past year in the first team.

Although he recently signed a long-term contract renewal, the Andalusian's continuity is in doubt. Several top clubs have shown strong interest in signing him and are willing to offer him not only a leading role but also a salary far above his current one. This has put Barça on alert, as they don't want to lose him, but they also can't guarantee him a starting spot.

Future hanging in the air

Fermín has received offers from both Saudi Arabia and the Premier League, with the latter being his most likely destination if he leaves. His camp acknowledges that, although he values staying at Barça, he needs playing time to keep growing and to aim for a spot in the next World Cup with the Spanish national team. For now, everything suggests that he isn't sure about staying if he doesn't see sporting guarantees.

The club is keeping calm: Hansi Flick has made it clear to him that he counts on him as an important impact player and that his profile fits into his play style. Although he wouldn't have an undisputed starting role, the coach considers him a useful piece due to his dribbling ability, intensity, and goal-scoring. Meanwhile, Laporta and Deco have made it clear that they won't sell him at the first opportunity.

Dilemma to be solved

In any case, the situation could change if an offer exceeding €50 million arrives. With that amount, Barça could have room to make key signings and ease the pressures of financial fair play. Although they don't want to part with Fermín, they're aware that the market rules and that his performance has made him a desired asset.

For now, the club trust they can keep him. He isn't on Flick's list of departures, and Laporta insists that homegrown youngsters are the core of the future. But they also know they can't turn a blind eye to reality: if Fermín decides to leave, Barça must be ready to respond immediately.
