Cubarsí's Injury Turns Barça Upside Down: Imminent Signing, Flick Needs Him

There are discrepancies in the club with a player whom the sports director insists on

Barça Has Made a Clear Qualitative Leap Since Hansi Flick's Arrival on the Bench Last Summer. In March, the team remains alive in all competitions and has positioned itself as one of the major favorites to win titles. Flick has managed to help Barça regain its competitive essence and has instilled a clear identity in the team, which now dominates matches.

One of the hallmarks of Flick's Barça is its offensive power and tactical bravery. The German coach has opted for a high defensive line, which allows pressing very high, recovering the ball in the opponent's field, and keeping the team always close to the area. This aggressive approach has made Barça a team difficult to contain and has been essential for the overall good performance.

Pau Cubarsí Leads a Reliable Defense

In this regard, the starting central pair with Pau Cubarsí and Íñigo Martínez has consolidated strongly. The young academy player has surprised everyone with his maturity and security in his second season, while Íñigo brings experience, strength, and great ball distribution. Together they understand each other perfectly, cover spaces well, and have adapted reliably to the demanding high defense proposed by Flick.

But Barça doesn't only count on them. On the bench, they have high-quality options: Eric Garcia, who has performed well when given minutes; Ronald Araujo, a natural leader; and Christensen.

The Locker Room Doesn't Consider the Signing Deco Has Secured Necessary

In this context, in the Barça locker room, they don't look favorably on a reinforcement that is practically secured. Jonathan Tah, currently at Bayer Leverkusen, finishes his contract and everything points to him arriving at Barça for free in the summer. However, according to "El Nacional," several team players consider his arrival unnecessary.

The current central defenders have proven to be up to the task, and their performance is so solid that adding Tah could be seen as excessive. Moreover, the confidence in Cubarsí, Íñigo, Araujo, Eric, and Christensen is total, and the locker room feels that no more competition is needed  in that line.

It Would Be the First Signing of the 25/26 Season

Despite the locker room's opinion, everything indicates that Jonathan Tah will end up signing with Barça. The German international central defender  finishes his contract and would arrive for free, making him a market opportunity that the management doesn't want to miss.

His incorporation will be a new challenge for Flick, who will have to manage an even more competitive defensive squad next season.
