Celta Gets Revenge, Takes Him from Barça: Marc Casadó Affected, Goodbye to His Best Friend

The young midfielder may lose one of his great friends if his move to the Galician team is confirmed

The transfer market is starting to move, and one of the clubs already working on strengthening their squad is Celta de Vigo. The sky-blue team is very focused on their goalkeeping position, a key role that could change hands next season.  Vicente Guaita, the current starting goalkeeper, doesn't have his continuity guaranteed, and the sports management is already exploring alternatives.

Claudio Giráldez, Celta's coach, wants to have everything ready in case Guaita doesn't stay at Balaídos. The Valencian goalkeeper arrived as an experienced bet, but his performance has raised doubts among the club's leadership. Moreover, the player is also unsure if he wants to continue in Vigo beyond the current season.

In this scenario, the Galician club has already started to study the transfer market to bring in a goalkeeper.  One of the names most liked in the club's offices is Iñaki Peña, Barça's third goalkeeper, who is looking for an exit. The Catalan player appears as a very interesting option to cover the sky-blue goal, although he has many offers.

Barça Won't Hinder Iñaki Peña's Exit

Barça doesn't consider Iñaki Peña an essential piece, especially since he has stopped being considered by Hansi Flick. Although he has had occasional minutes this season, especially when Ter Stegen was injured, the young goalkeeper hasn't managed to establish himself as a starter. The blaugrana club values his professionalism, but they are aware that he needs continuity and experience to keep growing.

The German coach has already given the green light to his departure if an interesting offer comes in, and the player's entourage also sees a change of scenery favorably. Peña wants to play regularly and knows he won't find that at Camp Nou while Ter Stegen and Szczesny take minutes from him. Therefore, he wouldn't close the door to a transfer if the sports project convinces him.

Claudio Giráldez Sees His Signing Favorably

Claudio Giráldez believes that Iñaki Peña's profile would fit very well with his play style. He is a goalkeeper with good ball distribution, agile under the posts, and with experience at the elite level. Additionally, his youth (25 years old) makes him a bet for the present and future for Celta de Vigo.

The Galician coach especially values Peña's ability to play short and participate in building from the back. He considers this key for his system, which is very focused on game control and possession. Moreover, the cost of the operation wouldn't be high, which also makes things easier for the sky-blue team.

With the goalkeeping position as the priority in this summer market, Iñaki Peña's name is positioned as one of the favorites to strengthen Celta de Vigo's squad. His arrival could be one of the first significant moves of the summer at Balaídos. If Vicente Guaita's departure is confirmed, Giráldez will go all out for Barça's goalkeeper, seeking to repeat the Mingueza operation.
