Neither City nor Bayern, historic betrayal by Ter Stegen: he leaves with Barça's enemy

The blaugrana president is working tirelessly to find exits in order to register all the footballers

The transfer market could see one of its biggest surprises in the coming weeks, as Inter Milan is preparing a top-level move to strengthen its goalkeeping position from Italy. The 'Neroazzurro' club has set its sights on a goalkeeper who has spent more than a decade defending Barcelona's colors. This is Marc-André ter Stegen, who is reportedly very seriously considering leaving Camp Nou.

The German international is not going through his best moment at the Catalan club, although he remains a respected figure in the locker room and one of the team's captains.  However, the emergence of Joan García has changed the outlook, as the young goalkeeper, signed from Espanyol, has convinced the coaching staff and has started to gain more prominence than desired.

This has caused Ter Stegen to start losing importance in the rotation, which is not part of his plans for the immediate future. The former Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper is clear that he needs more continuity; at 33 years old, the German keeper wants to be an undisputed starter to arrive as a starter at the 2026 World Cup.

Nagelsmann wants him to play

Coach Julian Nagelsmann has made it clear that he will only take goalkeepers who accumulate minutes and are in elite form. Ter Stegen knows this, and he doesn't want to risk being a substitute either in Barcelona or anywhere else. For this reason, Inter Milan appears as a very attractive option, as the Italian club has started to look for alternatives for the goalkeeping position in light of Sommer's possible departure.

In this context, Ter Stegen's name is gaining more and more traction in the offices at Giuseppe Meazza.  The 'Neroazzurro' club would prefer to bring in a goalkeeper with greater international experience and a more technical profile. Ter Stegen is looking to be a key player in a competitive project with ambitions both in Serie A and in Europe; Inter meets those requirements, and the interest is mutual.

Inter inquires about him

From Milan, the first contacts have already been made with the German goalkeeper's camp, and there is even talk of an offer of around €12 million. This figure (12 million euros) could convince Barça, which needs to reduce its wage bill; the Catalan club will not put up major obstacles to his departure. The relationship between Joan Laporta and the player's camp is cordial, and it is understood that his cycle could be coming to an end.

If Joan García ends up consolidating himself as the starting goalkeeper, Ter Stegen's transfer would be seen as a strategic move both in sporting and economic terms. The final word will belong to the player himself; a definitive decision is expected in the coming weeks.

Ter Stegen is considering stepping aside, closing his chapter as a Barcelona player, and starting a new chapter away from Camp Nou. Inter is ready to open the door for him, and in Barcelona, no one rules out a departure that seemed unthinkable just a few months ago.
