Confirmed, he snubs Barça and signs for Liverpool: Alexander-Arnold's fault

Liverpool has its eye on a player very much to the liking of the Barça coach

Barça is clear that one of the major objectives of the summer market will be to strengthen the right-back position. Koundé has been the player with the most minutes played in the squad, a sign of both his commitment and the lack of real alternatives to give him rest. With Hansi Flick on the bench, the Frenchman has become indispensable, but also an overused footballer.

The underlying problem is that Flick doesn't trust Héctor Fort as a reliable option on that side. Although his performance has been remarkable, the coaching staff considers it a priority to sign a specific full-back to allow him to manage efforts and increase internal competition.

The option Deco likes the most

Among the options considered by the sports management, the name that stands out for its quality-price ratio is Andrei Ratiu, a player from Rayo. The Romanian full-back is noted for his power, offensive capability, and good reading of the game. Although he is already 26 years old, his projection remains positive, and he is considered a player with room for improvement.

His release clause, of 25 million, makes him a very interesting market opportunity for a Barça that, despite having improved its economic situation, still can't afford luxuries. Rațiu has already proven his level in La Liga, knows the environment, and could quickly adapt to the culé play style. The operation, in financial and sporting terms, seems very logical.

Flick's name

However, according to 'El Nacional', Hansi Flick's favorite is not Ratiu, but Jeremie Frimpong, currently a player for Leverkusen. The Dutchman has been one of the key pieces of Xabi Alonso's team and is known for his physical display, verticality, and impact in attack.

Frimpong has a contract until 2028, but his desire to change scenery this summer is clear, especially after the confirmation that Xabi Alonso will already leave for Real Madrid. His price is around 35 million euros, a figure manageable for Barça if some sales are executed. For Flick, his arrival would be an evident quality leap in a position that has been a patch throughout the season.

Liverpool under Arne Slot wants to get ahead

However, signing Frimpong won't be an easy task. 'El Nacional' also reports that Liverpool has entered the race for the full-back with force. The English club is preparing for the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who would be very close to signing for Real Madrid.

Frimpong meets all the requirements: fast, aggressive in attack, and with international experience. Liverpool, with greater financial muscle, could get ahead of Barça in this operation. Everything will depend on market movements and the Catalan club's ability to act quickly.
